Completed in early 2008, Underground Studios has been custom designed from the ground up to accommodate a wide variety of creative needs. The large live room and side isolation booth makes it one of the very few studios in Western Australia to allow bands to record simultaneously in a live fashion. All rooms have junction boxes which allow for multiple headphone, instrument and speaker sends to be distributed anywhere throughout the studio.
The live room has a massive 3.6 meter high ceiling giving it an open and spacious sound. This makes it perfect for big ‘roomy’ drum or guitar sounds. If you like tighter sounds then the room can be baffled with custom designed gobos to absorb the sound.
Alternatively the Isolation booth has been treated as a dead room, which is excellent for everything from warm dry vocals to fat funk drums sounds. Essentially, at Underground we can take your project in whichever sonic direction you wish.
The control room has been symmetrically designed to create an excellent stereo image from the monitoring position. It is a very flat, honest mix room and you can be assured that there will be never be any nasty surprises in your mix once you have left the studio.
Underground Studios has a wide range of vintage and modern equipment spanning the past 50 years. This combination of old and new allows us to create a unique sonic blend, which we believe gives the artist a broad palette for creativity. Gear-heads will be tickled by some of the equipment we keep close at hand, including an impressive variety of amps, vintage synthesisers and drum kits.
Clients of Underground Studios have various entertainments at their disposal including an upright arcade machine, ping-pong table, foosball, internet access, coffee machine and a 40sqm yard (completion early 2011).
Driven by Producer/Engineer Matt Gio, Underground Studios is one of the finest and most versatile studios in Western Australia and is quickly becoming the ‘go-to’ space for many of Perth’s finest acts – our client list speaks for itself. Our unique approach to capturing music is what keeps them coming back. |
